Dress Up Your Dresser
Before I share my dresser decor ideas, let’s take a look at your dresser itself! If it’s not in the greatest shape, consider painting or refinishing it as a stylish update. About ten years ago, I painted an old dresser to give it new life, and we still use it in our primary bedroom today:
Or, for an even simpler upgrade, swap out your dated or cheap-looking dresser knobs or pulls. You might be surprised by how much it can dress up a tired-looking dresser!
We bought {this dresser} for our guest room a few years back because it’s a storage powerhouse with large, deep drawers. But like most less expensive dressers, it came with small, standard-looking knobs that didn’t do a lot for it. I swapped them out for {these simple, modern 1 ⅝″ knobs} at under $25 for all six (!!) and it made SUCH a difference:

Hang a Statement Mirror or Artwork
A great place to start decorating your dresser is by hanging a statement mirror or artwork above it. I especially love the look of a round mirror above a dresser since the curved edges are a nice contrast to the angular design of most dressers.
For our guest room, I chose {this 37″ round rattan mirror} that adds great texture and is budget-friendly too:

Quick Tip! When hanging a mirror or single piece of art above your dresser, a good rule of thumb for sizing is to choose a piece that’s between ½ to ⅔ the width of your dresser. Leave 6-8″ of space between the bottom of your mirror or art and the top of your dresser.
If you prefer to place framed artwork or photos above your dresser, you can hang 1-2 large pieces of art above your dresser, rest overlapping framed artwork/photos on top of your dresser, or hang a gallery wall of photos or art. If you’re intimidated by arranging a gallery wall, consider a “kit” such as {this collection of frames} from Lowe’s that includes frames of various sizes and a template for arranging them.
Cast a Warm Glow With a Table Lamp
I love using table lamps on bedroom dressers because it’s so nice to have the soft, warm glow of a lamp vs. the harsh glare of overhead lighting. I bought {this blue & white table lamp} for our guest room, and it’s such a gorgeous addition:
Pair Your Lamp with a Stylish Storage or Decor Piece
If you have a wider dresser like mine, pair your lamp with a stylish storage or decor piece. The key is to choose something that varies in height from your lamp to add visual interest. This can be anything from a stylish storage box or jewelry box to a vase, decorative bowl, or other favorite decor piece.
I paired my lamp with {this decorative marble chain} sitting on a pair of stacked books to give it a more substantial feel:

Stacked books are one of my go-to’s for decorating shelves, consoles, and dressers. Use them any time you want to add some visual weight!
Add Life & Color With Greenery or Flowers
Moving on to the other side of your dresser, let’s liven it up with greenery or flowers. Whether you opt for a succulent, blooming orchid, or bouquet of your favorite flowers, incorporating greenery can instantly breathe life into your space. While live plants and fresh flowers are ideal, they aren’t always practical, so going with faux is ok too!
Our guest bedroom doesn’t get a lot of light, so I used some faux cherry blossoms from my flower stash in a white vase similar to {this one}:
You could also choose to use a faux plant such as {this faux plant} with large leaves:

Pair Your Greenery with a Frame (or Two!)
Let’s finish things off by pairing your flowers or greenery with a frame. Once again, you want variety in height, so choose a frame that’s significantly shorter or taller than your flowers/plant. I framed a 4 x 6 print with a simple brass frame I already had and also added a small basket because I like the balance of having a grouping of three:
Inside the basket, I placed an extra long charging cord with charger that guests who forgot theirs can grab:
In your own bedroom, this would be a great spot for a catch-all for coins, car keys, watches, or anything else you take off as you walk into the bedroom at the end of the day.
