A Fabulous Wallpaper Source, A Simple Tip for Elevating the Look of Your Bathroom, + 15 Way Day Must-Haves

Hi all! After taking some time off for a little getaway to California where I met up with a bunch of blogging friends (so fun!), I’m checking in with a new “View It, Do It, You It” post! It includes a fabulous new source for wallpaper and paint (“View It”), a simple tip for elevating the look of your bathroom (“Do It”), and my 15 favorite finds from Wayfair’s Way Day sale that’s going on today and tomorrow (“You It”). View It: A New Wallpaper & Paint Source

I’m excited to be wrapping up the makeover of my girls’ bathroom this month so I can move on to renovating our kitchen in early 2024. They have a jack-and-jill bathroom with their vanity in one room and tub/shower and toilet in an adjoining room. It’s a great arrangement that works out well when they’re both home but everything about the bathroom was super dated. Here’s a pic of the “before”:

Even though it took forever to take down the wallpaper, I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because I decided to add new wallpaper to this space to bring some color in. After months of searching without finding anything I loved, I stumbled on this gorgeous option:

I LOVE the hand-painted look of it with various blended shades of green and the simple-but-not-boring design. It comes in several other colorways too. I found it at Backdrop Home {here} which is a new-to-me source of paint and wallpaper. Their wallpaper is made from hand-crafted artwork printed on paper and they won “best of wallpaper” in Domino magazine for 2022. You can check out all of their unique designs {here}.

Along with my wallpaper, I ordered a paint deck and am so blown away by the beautiful, saturated colors. They remind me of Farrow & Ball paint colors but with a lower price tag. I also love that their paint deck includes large swatches and has a relatively small number of paint colors yet seems to have every color that you’d need (which translates into easier decision making!):

You can check out their paint color options {here}. I love that they offer fast, free shipping and that their paint is low-VOC, Green Wise certified, and low-odor. And after receiving a few wallpaper rolls with some minor damage in shipping, their customer service was SUPER responsive (offering to replace them plus give me a discount for the hassle even though it was no fault of theirs). I’m going to start hanging the bathroom wallpaper at the end of this week and will share how it looks once it’s up!

Do It: A Simple Tip for Elevating the Look of Your Bathroom

Unlike the portion of my girls’ bathroom with the vanity where everything is being replaced, in the adjoining space I’m leaving the bathtub and surrounding wall tile as-is. I do wish that the tub/shower wall tile went all the way up to the ceiling, but the tile is completely neutral and leaving it as-is was an easy way to save some money. So this is what I’m working with (minus the old wallpaper):

To elevate the look of the space, I’m using a trick I have up my sleeve from past renovations – hanging an extra-long shower curtain! Just as hanging your drapes high makes your windows seem bigger and ceilings higher, using an extra-long shower curtain that’s hung high has a similar effect.

Where do you buy custom shower curtains with an extra-long length option? My favorite source that I found in my search is Pepper Home {here}. They have so many pretty fabric options including these that I ordered samples of:

You can customize both the length and width of the shower curtain and there are cute trim options too like the navy rick rack on {this poppy blue shower curtain}:

Just beware that adding trim to the shower curtain adds a LOT to the price.

Another shower curtain that comes in both standard and extra-long length is {this wavy edged shower curtain} with gray or light blue edging that’s darling:

3. My Rattan Bar Cart

{This rattan bar cart} is at the lowest price I’ve seen it since I bought it early this year (it’s on Amazon and Home Depot for over $200 more). I absolutely love it! We keep it in our circus room/sun room on a daily basis and it holds our outdoor throws and other outdoor essentials we can grab on our way out the door to our back porch.

Then when we’re entertaining, I wheel it outside and it makes the perfect drink station:

I have the blue and white color option but you can also get it in all white, black/white, or gray/white.

4. Our Wireless Mini Lamps

{This set of 3 mini LED lamps} is one of my favorite purchases of 2023! You simply plug them in to charge them and then they can be used wirelessly, both inside and out to create the perfect glow:

We love them for outdoor use but they’re also awesome when you lose power! 100x better than carrying around a flashlight or candle! They’re definitely a bit spendy but under $45 each is the best price I’ve seen so consider splitting up the set of 3 with friends or family. You can also buy them individually {here} but the individual ones aren’t on sale and the price difference is huge.

5 & 6. The Perfect Vanity Lights & Mirrors

I bought a pair of {these 2-light globe shade vanity lights} when we renovated our bathroom in our previous home and absolutely love them. They’re the perfect mix of traditional with a modern edge:

You can snag them on sale for Way Day in the aged brass color that I chose or in polished nickel. I’ve also always loved {these vanity lights} that come in a 2-, 3-, or 4-light option.

I chose the gold finish for my mirrors but they also come in black and silver.

7. My Cane Bench

We have and love {this cane bench} in our guest room – it’s the perfect size for the foot of a full or queen bed:

It would work great in an entryway too. I love the white color but it also comes in natural and charcoal.

8. My Dash & Albert Rugs

Dash & Albert is one of my go-to brands for rugs – I love their style and pattern options and they’re made to last. They don’t go on sale often, but they’re 20% off plus ship free for Way Day! I had {this honeycomb rug} in the family room of our old home and while it was not cheap, it was worth every penny! Honestly, it looked like new over five years later when we sold our house and I was able to re-sell it for a great price:

9 & 10. My Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig + Seagrass Basket Set

If you want a great deal on some stylish baskets, snag {this set of 3 seagrass baskets} at the Way Day sale price! The smallest basket is the perfect size for {this faux fiddle leaf fig tree}:

while the larger baskets are great for shoe storage, corralling toys, and tons of other uses. My fiddle leaf fig is the 47″ version that’s currently sold out but the 57″ version is on Way Day sale!

11. My Teak Shower Bench

Forgoing a built-in bench in our shower and adding a shower bench found {here} was one of the best decisions I made in our shower design. It saved quite a bit of money in tile and labor and I like the look of it better too.

When I bought my stool, the lighter finish was named “driftwood” but it was recently changed to “white” – from reviewer photos, it appears that the current finish looks similar to mine but with a heavier whitewash. Definitely a great find to snag on sale during Way Day!

12 & 13. My Round Mirrors

We have another long-time favorite in our bedroom that’s an awesome Way Day deal – you can find the large round mirror over our bedroom dresser {HERE} for over 50% off:

This mirror actually comes in an antique bronze finish that is darker than what you see in my pic – I brightened the finish on mine using Rub ‘n Buff to make it work better with everything else going on in my room (the original finish is pretty as-is though!). It’s a really well made piece and I adore the little pocket watch-like detail at the top of it.

14. My Bathroom Vanity

The vanity I bought for my girls’ bathroom is on sale for Way Day {HERE} in gray, navy blue, and white:

It includes the cabinet, sinks, pulls, and top so is WAY cheaper than piecing those different parts together on your own. The one I bought is an odd 54″ size which is perfect for my 55″ vanity nook but it also comes in a 60″ size {here}, a 36″ size {here}, and a 48″ size {here} if you’re looking for something more standard.

15. My Flush Mount Lights

My favorite simple, classic flush mount light that doesn’t distract from anything else going on in the room but still has understated style is on sale {HERE}. It’s currently stocked in 3 of the 4 colors including mine, which is the warm brass:

Another simple overhead flush mount light that I have, love, and recommend is {this matte white flush mount light} that I put in our powder room:

It comes in an almost endless combination of finishes – instead of matte white you can choose black, gray, red, seafoam, and several other colors and you can customize the metal finish at the base of it too. If you still have any of those ugly boob lights in your home, now’s the time to switch them out!
